Endurance racing is teamwork. But the best teams don’t talk more — they talk better.
Long, messy comms create confusion. Short callouts create clarity.
The 3 communication goals
- Safety: avoid crashes and unsafe rejoins
- Strategy: fuel, tyres, pit timing
- Driver handover: pass on the important info quickly
Short phrases that work
Traffic
- “Car left / car right”
- “Two wide ahead”
- “Blue flag in 2 corners”
Strategy
- “Fuel safe” / “Fuel tight”
- “Tyres OK” / “Tyres fading rear”
- “Pit this lap / pit next lap”
Handover notes
- “Brake bias at X”
- “TC level X, ABS X”
- “Watch kerb at Turn X, it’s sketchy”
Make communication easy with workflow
If your team is streaming or doing long sessions, rig ergonomics matter. Having a keyboard tray for quick notes or chat can be surprisingly useful.
