Seat Compatibility

To mount a seat on any SimXPro® chassis, you will need either the SimXPro® Universal Seat Mount or the SimXPro® Extended Universal Seat Mount (provides a wider tilt adjustment range). These brackets are not included with the cockpit and must be purchased separately.

SimXPro® Universal Seat Mounts are compatible with:

For seats with bottom-mount attachment:

  • they can be installed using 4× corner brackets to mount the seat flat onto the chassis profile
  • these extra brackets are not included with the rigs
  • exception: SimXPro GT-RS®, which includes an extended hardware kit supporting bottom-mount seat installation"
Chassis

The FR DD base frame is constructed from a combination of 4040, 4080, and 40120 aluminum extrusion profiles, ensuring a strong and stable platform capable of handling high-end Direct Drive setups. This reinforced version is designed specifically for more demanding racers who want the authentic Formula driving position without sacrificing adjustability or stability.

Powder-coated in Satin Black, the FR DD blends strength, clean aesthetics, and long-term durability. Like all SimXPro® rigs, it is part of our fully modular ecosystem - meaning every SimXPro® accessory, mount, and upgrade fits perfectly with the FR chassis.

Whether you’re running loadcell pedals, hydraulic braking systems, or a high-torque wheelbase, the FR DD base frame delivers the rigidity required for serious Formula racing.

Wheel Mount

With the FR DD, you can select your preferred wheel mount from several high-grade mounting options. The standard Universal Front Wheelmount included in the default package is made from 8 mm hardened steel and supports the most powerful Direct Drive bases on the market.

Compatible Wheelbases (Universal Front Mount):

  • OSW MiGe 130 series
  • SimSteering AKM5x
  • Lenze MCS12H
  • SimuCube 2 (Sport / Pro / Ultimate)
  • AccuForce Pro
  • VRS
  • Simagic Alpha series

Pedal Tray

The SimXPro® Profile Pedal Deck comes standard with the FR DD, delivering the rigidity required for high-performance braking systems.

Key Features:

  • Fully adjustable in height, tilt, and position
  • Built for loadcell and hydraulic pedal sets
  • Black powder-coated aluminum + hardened steel brackets
  • Flex-free performance even under heavy braking
  • Compatible with most major pedal brands

Important:
Thrustmaster pedals cannot be mounted directly to the profile pedal deck because they require bottom-mount installation.

Shifter Mount

Formula-style driving rarely requires a traditional side shifter, but the FR DD supports multiple mounting points for handbrakes, paddles, or additional accessories.

Optional shifter mounting upgrades include:

Placement is flexible thanks to the profile-based slot system, allowing you to customize your Formula-inspired cockpit setup.

More information

Finding the perfect Formula position can be challenging, so here are essential guidelines to achieve the most comfortable and realistic driving posture:

  • Legs should be almost fully extended at maximum braking (slightly bent, never locked).
  • Knees should sit behind the wheelbase.
  • Wheelbase around shoulder height, with the shaft pointing toward your neck or chin.
  • Toes should be just barely visible behind the wheelbase.
  • Seat positioning is the most crucial factor — your weight should be evenly distributed from your legs to your upper back.
  • Adjust in this order: Seat → Wheel → Pedals → Monitors for optimal ergonomics.

For reference, the product photos may include the SimXPro XF paired with a Sparco GP seat - this is not the FR DD but demonstrates the seating style.

Whether you're training, racing competitively, or building your first Formula sim cockpit, the SimXPro® FR DD provides the strength, precision, and ergonomics needed for true open-wheel driving.
